Sore throat for a week has many causes:

- Postnasal drip occurs when excess mucus drains from the sinuses into the throat.

- Nasal Congestion and Mouth Breathing
- Tonsillitis is caused by a bacterial or viral infection.
- Bacterial Infection (Strep Throat)

- Inhaling smoke and the toxic chemicals in tobacco smoke irritate the sensitive tissues lining the throat.
 - Stomach acid backing up into the esophagus can irritate the throat.

- One of the causes of persistent sore throat is laryngeal cancer.
I advise you to see a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
