Actually no you don't need to delete whatsapp as they updated their privacy policy and stated that whatsapp will not store any of the messages or the pictures no more as whatsapp used to share users information with commercial brands which led to public anger and starting to switch to other apps .

No, Your Whatsapp Account should not be deleted,since  WhatsApp shall not have access to  your messages or any data. Company CEO Will Cathcart clarifies on Twitter that WhatsApp messages and calls will stay saved by end-to-end encrypted, then no one will be able to see your info except the owner of account.
